Mortgage Choice National Conference 2024

In September, Mortgage Choice held its 2024 National Conference on Hamilton Island.

The world-class speaker line-up included Ken Segall, the man responsible for putting the ‘i’ in iPhone; humanitarian and journalist Amanda Lindhout, who shared her courageous story and lessons in resilience; and AFL legend and Indigenous advocate Adam Goodes, who spoke about leadership, the power of kindness, and learning from failure.

Brokers could tailor their own workshop agendas, with leadership, sales, and growth streams that included diverse topics like harnessing the power of AI, using data to grow and retain customers, developing a growth mindset, and building and managing high-performing teams.

The conference wrapped with the annual gala dinner, which celebrated excellence across the Mortgage Choice network and saw retiring franchisee Tony Schelling honoured with the CEO Award in recognition of his dedication to the business and the broking industry.

Truly Finance raises $7k in City2Surf

Sydney-based broker James Brett (alongside his wife and two daughters) and Lumi BDM Dylan Dovico ran the 14-kilometre City2Surf race in Sydney in August, raising $7,000 for the Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education (FARE), which focuses exclusively on policies and programs that tackle alcohol harm in Australia.

Brett – who is one of the Voice for Change advocates for the organisation – said he took part in the race and fundraising to support “a worthy cause close to his heart”.

“Far too many Australians die because of alcohol, and I was almost one of them. I wanted to raise awareness via my socials and fundraising activity of the amazing organisation, and what they do: ‘working towards an Australia free from alcohol harms’,” he said.

“We can influence and change the world because of our actions. And actions are seen and copied – behavioural contagion. As an addict, alive and sober for 14 years, I’ve been granted an opportunity to support others in paid-by-lived experience and genuine empathy and understanding.”
