Lure of competition

I run one of the biggest tuna fishing competitions in Australia – the Port Lincoln Tuna Classic. I believe it’s got the biggest cash prize purse in the country. We do a lot of charitable work too. This year, we’re giving 10 per cent of the prize purse back to Variety, the Children’s Charity.

Quality time

I’m a dad first and foremost. I spend a lot of time playing – lots of different things. My [last] Saturday night was painting my four-year-old daughter’s toenails. And she loved doing all the colours. This morning, I woke up and the first thing my daughter said was, "I need to sing Let It Go", the Frozen song. I’m there playing with them and being an idiot all the time.

Walk the walk

I go for a walk every morning at five o’clock. It’s beautiful. It’s quiet. My phone doesn’t ring. No one’s awake. It’s amazing. We get up every morning, we go for a walk and get a coffee. I have this great morning routine and that sets me up for the day.

Running start

I need to run every day, unless I go crazy. I had to work out a way to have [my son] work in my schedule where we both get special time together. So from about three to six months [of age] onwards, I started a morning runs with him. We’ve done that pretty much every day of his life.
