Indoor skydiving

I have a 19-year-old son and he and I have been doing indoor skydiving together and it’s been a heap of fun. I strongly recommend it. Go and have a go. Embarrassingly I think I’ve done about six hours of it now even though they only have two-minute slots, so that’s a few times in the wind tunnel!

I wish I was better. The bit that stinks is that my 19-year-old gets in there and he’s doing all these cool tricks now. Even though I’ve tried to sneak in a few extra lessons, he’s just so much better!

Running and golfing

I love running so I like to run a few days a week and I find that that’s a really good de-stresser. I find that, while running, it allows me to plan my day in my head and work through the challenges that may be ahead of me. It’s definitely a great release of endorphins.

I’ve also recently picked up playing golf. While it is the most frustrating game in the world, it’s also potentially one of the most enjoyable things to do. I’ve found a lot of love in playing golf and the camaraderie you have with friends and industry colleagues as well through that process. A lot of that is done pre-work hours so getting up early and getting that ‘me time’ is really important.

Interior design and boundaries

I love interior design, I love all that homey stuff. I love tinkering and I’ve become a green thumb.

I’ve really set boundaries. Now that my boys are getting older, I need to be there; I dont want to be an absent mum. So, I don’t take appointments past a certain time.

I’m very clear with setting my boundaries and I’m starting to say no. Setting those boundaries is number one. It’s easy for me to say though, it’s easier said than done! It’s taken me 12 months to really say no. But I’m embracing it and I’m loving it and my boys get what they need from me.

Small breaks and nature

I’ve been taking small breaks throughout the year to unwind and recharge, for example, going on a trip down south with friends and family for a weekend.

I love hiking. We have a small club that I’m a part of. Being in nature really helps me recharge. Every second weekend in the mornings I go on bike rides with my friends and try out a new restaurant or cafe. That’s really helped me unwind.
