Chifley Securities has joined forces with the FBAA to offer Australian brokers advanced commercial education and training courses.

The group has a range of one-day workshops on offer, endorsed by the FBAA, in an attempt to help brokers boost their skills and business volumes.

“We are working closely with the FBAA to help raise the level of professionalism and knowledge in the industry,” Chifley Securities co-founder Domenic Morello said.

The courses have been devised and written by industry veteran Dominic Lambrinos and cover a range of topics including commercial property and finance, property development finance, leasing and cash flow finance, and understanding financial statements.

“Finance brokers who do not keep up with Australia’s fast-changing operating environment with the latest tools and knowledge will simply miss out on the multiple opportunities that exist today and in the future,” Mr Lambrinos said.

FBAA chief executive Peter White told The Adviser that the courses are a great learning opportunity for brokers looking to break into the commercial lending field.

“Commercial lending is a very specialised area and if you’re going to do it, it’s important that you’ve got the right level of education,” he said.

“I had the opportunity to review the courses that have come out from Chifley, and I thought it was very good and worthy of support.”

FBAA members will be able to enjoy a saving of up to $500 per workshop, with discounts available for the programs.

“Whether you’re a member of ours or not, I think it’s a valuable thing to do,” Mr White said.

“For somebody to go out of their way to do this for the good of the industry is in its own right worthy of support so long as the content is good, and in this case it is.”
