Organised by The Adviser, the UK Study Tour will offer 30 delegates an up-close view of mortgage distribution in an environment with lower margins and more intense regulation. Delegates will have the opportunity to determine how UK best practice and learnings can be adapted for their own businesses.
Mortgage Advice Bureau (MAB) CEO Peter Brodnicki will host a session on best practice in mortgage broking, where he will reveal how to create a robust business to weather all cycles.
Mr Brodnicki started MAB in 2000 with just 10 brokers. The business listed on London’s Stock Exchange in 2014 and has a current market cap of £166 million.
Over time he has evolved the business with a focus on growth and diversification, including through a number of key strategic investments, joint ventures and acquisitions.
With more than 800 advisers settling approximately £10 billion of mortgages per annum, MAB is an award-winning mortgage broker with access to over 90 UK lenders and more than 12,000 products.
As a leading network for mortgage intermediaries, MAB has over 130 appointed representative firms and around 900 agency branches – which are a key source of loan lead generation.
Prior to establishing MAB, Mr Brodnicki held senior roles at Legal & General. During his almost 30-year career in mortgage and financial services, he has also had management roles with Albany Life and John Charcol.
With the Australian mortgage market under increasing regulatory pressure, brokers have a unique opportunity to hear how to survive – and thrive – in challenging conditions from one of the UK’s most celebrated mortgage leaders.
Mr Brodnicki has received the British Mortgage Awards’ Broker Business Leader of the Year award for three consecutive years and was Mortgage Strategy’s Mortgage Strategist of the Year (2014 and 2015) and Financial Reporter’s Most Influential Person (2013).
