Brokers access education on investment advice

A new accredited training program will launch tomorrow, aiming to educate brokers on how best to advise and support their clients in property investment, as well as how to grow their own business through property referral.

Property research and investment firm Aviate Group developed the education program called Ignition, which is accredited by Kaplan Professional Education and affords participants 5.75 CPD points.

Neil Smoli, Aviate Group’s managing director, said the program has been tailored to enhance the standing of brokers as subject matter experts and to utilise their close relations with clients to deliver a superior property investment experience.

“While Ignition is an Aviate innovation created to fill a gap in the market, the discussions between Aviate and its alliance partners were influential to the program’s design and structure. In speaking to its alliance network, including brokers and advisers, it is clear that many professionals feel inadequately equipped to speak confidently and with authority to their clients about property investment,” Mr Smoli told The Adviser.

“Nevertheless, they recognise that property investment is a necessary part of their service offering. Aviate created Ignition to bridge this educational gap.”

According to Mr Smoli, brokers are often approached by clients after they have already decided on a particular property to purchase, leaving brokers in an awkward position if they know this may not be the best decision for that client or being unable to assist with maximising the potential for the client’s overall property investment experience.

“Ignition equips you with the tools to be front of mind, positioning you as a solution provider. You will start to be considered by your clients at the beginning of their investment journey, not at the end. In this way, you can better protect your clients’ security by guiding them in the right direction,” he said.

“Across various sessions, Ignition will cover areas including the alignment of property investment as an asset choice, due diligence and risk management, investment maximisation, referral processes and leveraging existing networks, neuro-sales techniques and processes, and the changing face of marketing in the digital world.”

The first of the education days will be held in Sydney tomorrow, Tuesday 25 August, at the Park Royal Hotel in Darling Harbour. Another day will be held at the same location this Thursday, 27 August.

Further dates and locations are yet to be confirmed, although Mr Smoli said the program will be rolled out shortly to Brisbane and Melbourne, with additional dates also planned for Sydney.
