SME Bootcamp returns in 2024

by Malavika Santhebennur6 minute read

Registrations have opened for the SME Bootcamp, a free summit that could transform the way brokers and accountants support their SME clients.

The SME Bootcamp 2024 will be held over two weeks in September in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. Register for free here.

This year, the bootcamp will be steered by Accendo Financial partners Stuart Donaldson, John Sgambelluri, and Trent Carter, who will equip small-business advisers – including brokers and accountants – with the skills they require to write small- to medium-sized enterprise (SME) finance, scale their business, and turn into a credit advisory powerhouse.

Powered by The Adviser and its sister brand Accountants Daily, the SME Bootcamp is targeted at brokers and accountants looking to break into the commercial and asset finance advisory space to increase their revenue.

The speakers will deliver four sessions to help them unlock revenue potential, differentiate their offering, streamline decision making by enabling them to guide SME clients in real time, and enhance client trust.

In the first session, Sgambelluri will provide practical tips on how brokers and accountants can enrich their consultancy services by incorporating break-even analysis into their interactions with SME clients.

They will learn about balancing price, volume, and costs. They will also gain a deeper understanding of how to guide their clients through key business decisions and become their clients’ business adviser.

Sgambelluri will then delve into business valuations and share insights on how accountants and brokers can identify seven key areas that impact business multipliers and provide accurate assessments and actionable recommendations.

They will also learn how to help clients anticipate and mitigate potential risks that business owners could encounter along their journey and strengthen their resilience in the face of challenges.

Following this, Carter will build on the insights around valuation and explore the credit risk accountants and brokers should be mindful of and how insights from business valuation could inform credit risk assessment. The session is designed to provide a holistic view to strengthen loan applications.

Carter will detail how to articulate the value proposition of their clients’ businesses using language that resonates with credit officers to increase the likelihood of loan approval and favourable terms.

The Accendo Financial partner will continue with a session on how brokers could move beyond commission and compliance and transition to a premium advisory fee model by effectively selling their value proposition and communicating the benefits of their services to clients.

Brokers will learn how to refine their closing styles and overcome objections to seal deals with confidence in order to convert prospects into paying clients and maximising revenue potential.

Carter will provide access to resources on mandate templates and fee structure guidelines to help brokers customise their fee arrangements to align with their clients’ needs while maximising profitability in their business.

The bootcamp includes fireside discussions on how brokers and accountants could expand their service offerings and tap into new revenue streams.

Throughout the free bootcamp, attendees will be given the opportunity to network with industry leaders, lenders, aggregators, as well as their peers.

The SME Bootcamp 2024 will be held in the following locations:

Tuesday, 3 September at QT Hotel Gold Coast.

Thursday, 5 September at Le Montage, Sydney.

Wednesday, 11 September at Grand Hyatt, Melbourne.
