Elevating the elite

November is always a busy month, as brokers work quickly to ensure home buyers are able to access finance for the final month of the spring selling season and prepare for the summer months.

But it’s also a great month for celebration, with many awards and end-of-year events wrapping up the achievements of the year. We’re following a similar vibe this month as we celebrate the big names in the mortgage broking industry. Our cover story this month (page 18) launches our inaugural Elite Broker Ranking – Residential, proudly partnered by ANZ.

Inspired by feedback from our Elite Broker podcast, many readers had reached out asking us to find out the numbers behind the top performers in industry. As such, in the first instalment of our Elite Broker Ranking, we’re revealing what it takes to be a top-performing broker in Australia.

Don’t forget to tune in to Elite Broker podcast on The Adviser Podcast Network to hear more from the leading players in the market, including former Aussie rules star Craig Parry, who is making a significant impact as a broker at Crown Money (page 12). His journey highlights the diverse pathways to success within our field and serves as inspiration for those looking to make their mark (see what we did there?).

Of course, part of being an Elite Broker is knowing the ins and outs of all the products and solutions available to clients. One such solution that is gaining in popularity is bridging loans. Make sure you check out the feature Perfect timing (page 30), where our commercial content writer Ben Squires chats to Bridgit to delve into how bridging loans are keeping house hunters competitive in a dynamic market.

This edition also wraps up some of the big issues taking up time on an industry level, including the Senate’s recent inquiry into home ownership. Check out our recap on page 26, as we review what was said, by whom, and whether current lending laws are facilitating or hindering the Australian dream of home ownership. More is unpacked in the Defenders of industry (page 39) feature, too, as unpack how industry leaders have hit back at the (left-field) conversations about remuneration reviews.
