Setting boundaries

I don’t answer my phone after 6pm.

If clients or referrers are calling me after hours, unless there’s an urgent settlement the next day, I will direct them to email me and I’ll reach out to them at 9am the next day.

I feel like there’s so much noise that we have as brokers and, if you don’t set boundaries, it’s so hard to switch off and decompress and spend time with your family.

Early start

I do a bit of training. I make sure I’m up at 5am every morning and I train at 6am.

I feel like that’s a [good way to] de-stress. It gets me ready and puts me in a good position to attack the rest of my day.

Quality time

We love to go to the beach and relax and just get away for the weekend.

Having that family quality time is a good way to escape the busy, stressful process around mortgage broking.

Walking and Pilates

I love to go for a walk. Walking for me is my go-to. I put a podcast in my ear and I can just walk and walk and walk, a little bit like Forrest Gump really. I can just keep walking.

I [also] love Pilates. I bought myself a reformer and I’ve converted one of my spare bedrooms into my little Pilates studio and I’m just learning breathwork.

That box breathing – I didn’t realise how amazing that makes me feel.
