Rodney “Rocket” Cottam, Resimac’s regional sales manager for NSW, ACT, and Queensland, completed his most gruelling running challenge to date for Run Rocket Run on 1 November, covering 560 kilometres in just seven days.

Cottam ran around 500 kilometres for his Run Rocket Run challenge in 2023, but decided to push his limits further in 2024 while raising funds for Invictus Australia.

Cottam – a military veteran who is paralysed in his left arm as a result of spinal nerve damage from a motor vehicle accident that resulted in brachial plexus palsy – started his long-distance challenge in Western NSW on 26 October.

He ran approximately 80 kilometres a day over the following week – including the iconic Mount Panorama loop in Bathurst – before finishing in Sydney CBD.

After completing the challenge, Cottam said: “While I was doing it tough and having to dig deep for seven days to complete the 560 kilometres, too many of our veterans are having to do it tough every day, due to ongoing physical and mental injuries. They need our help.

“Running has transformed my life, allowing me to overcome obstacles and inspire others.

“This challenge is about more than just physical limits; it’s about supporting those who have fought for our country and continue to fight their own battles.”
