Salvation Army spokesperson Gordon Sanders said Aussie had helped brighten Christmas for hundreds of people over the past 15 years.
"Christmas can be one of the hardest times of the year for many families and individuals who are faced with economic uncertainty, and it is especially important that communities and families can come together to celebrate," Mr Sanders said.
Aussie executive chairman John Symond said the group was pleased to be able to help underprivileged people.
"Aussie's staff share a strong commitment to helping the needy and putting something back into the community," Mr Symond said.
"We believe that our simple contribution might help in a small way to make a difference to Christmas Day for both children and adults."
Aussie has made food donations throughout the year to other charities, including Mission Australia, Exodus Foundation and Barnados Australia, the group said.
