by Reporter10 minute read

The major aggregator has welcomed a new member to its executive team as it appoints its first chief people officer.

Australian Finance Group Ltd (AFG) has this week welcomed Rebecca Gravestock to the new role of chief people officer (CPO), based in Melbourne.

The new position has reportedly been created in response to AFG’s “period of growth” and “commitment to being an employer of choice”.

Ms Gravestock has more than 20 years’ experience in consulting, having previously held roles as the director of people and performance for Australia and Asia at accounting software company Xero, and was previously a director at Strategy& – part of the PwC network.

She also consulted nationally and globally and most recently had her own consultancy company specialising in people advisory and strategy.

Speaking of the new appointment, AFG chief executive David Bailey said: “I am delighted to welcome Rebecca to AFG. She is a highly accomplished and strategic people leader with a wealth of knowledge and experience that will add value to AFG’s business and employees.

“Rebecca’s experience in the support and development of high-performance culture and capabilities will make an important contribution to AFG as we continue to focus on supporting our people, executing our strategy and delivering sustainable value creation for our shareholders.

“Rebecca’s depth of experience is a great fit to enable us to deliver on our strategy and develop our people as they continue to provide vital support [to] our broker network.”

Ms Gravestock added: I am incredibly excited to be joining the AFG team and broker community and am looking forward to the opportunity to lead our people in support of AFG’s strategy and ambitions at an exciting time in AFG’s growth.”

Mr Bailey noted that Ms Gravestock joins the company’s Melbourne office adding: “AFG has more than 60 staff on the east coast so having another key member of our executive team on the eastern seaboard will be a strong advantage.”

The appointment of Ms Gravestock is the latest change the aggregator has made to its senior leadership, after announcing Them Lam as its head of sales and distribution while Chris Slater has been appointed as the CEO of Fintelligence.
