In Australia, approximately 114,000 people are diagnosed with cancer each year, which equates to 2,192 per week, 313 per day and 13 per hour, according to the Cancer Council of Australia.
The last half day workshop was held on Saturday 6 August 2011, and was open to cancer patients, survivors, carers, employers and work colleagues.
The events are designed to help educate those who are keen to return to their job yet are unsure of their rights or how to deal with the transition back into the workforce.
Annie Miller, Cancer Council NSW survivor programs coordinator, said she was thankful for the partnership with Mortgage Choice.
“We are appreciative of the support Mortgage Choice regularly provides, particularly its staff who volunteer their time to assist with these events. Without the helping hand we wouldn’t be able to cater to the number of people who require this kind of information and support,” said Ms Miller.
