Mr Corfield comes to Aussie after six years with Bankwest, where he was held various roles including chief executive of Bankwest business and chief executive Bankwest retail.
Prior to that Corfield held senior roles at the Halifax Bank in the UK and Ireland.
Aussie's executive chairman John Symond said he was pleased to see the board accepted his recommendation to hire Ian.
"He was the stand-out candidate in my search for a new CEO," Mr Symond said.
"He has an impeccable pedigree with relevant experience at the helm of dynamic brands and also has extensive experience managing brands through a corporate transition such as Aussie is experiencing now."
In his time at Bankwest Retail, Mr Corfield was in charge of its third party broker business, giving him extensive knowledge about the specifics of the mortgage industry.
"During my tenure at both Halifax and Bankwest, I had the opportunity to manage change without losing the integrity, personality or points of difference of those brands. I relish the opportunity to maintain and grow Aussie's reputation for providing its customers a wide range of options for their individual needs. I am looking forward to my role, and to working with such a dynamic group of people through this exciting period for the company," Ian Corfield said.
