In a bid to ease Sydney’s housing shortage, farms and rural lands will be carved up into at least five new suburbs.

The state’s planning minister Kristina Keneally yesterday revealed the government’s push to re-zone 3,300ha in The Hills, Blacktown, Liverpool and Camden to create new suburbs.

However real estate agents fear the subdivided land, which would sell for $200,000 a piece, would not be built with enough sewerage, power or roads.
