Citibank has launched a competitive new mortgage campaign to celebrate the traditionally hot spring selling season.

Effective from today, the second tier lender will provide a $1,000 refund to all refinancers.

In addition, the lender will pay new mortgage clients up to $1,000 depending on what settlement, property and application fees are paid.

“The $1,000 refund basically means Citibank will absorb all of the application fees, package fees, settlement fees and any additional property fees,” Citibank national key accounts manager mortgages distribution Matt Wood told The Adviser.

“The settlement fee is actually our solicitor’s fee, but in the spirit of spring we have told our customers that we will absorb that fee as well.”

Mr Wood said he hoped the new campaign would help drive greater business to the bank before the year is out.

“The market traditionally picks up in spring and we hope this increased activity will lead to greater volumes being channelled to us through our broker partners,” he said.

“We have a good appetite for growth at the moment. We want to finish the year strongly, which is why we have introduced this spring campaign and continue to offer some of the sharpest priced products on the market.”
