According to the general manager of Advantedge distribution Brett Halliwell, while gaining traction in the market remains an ongoing challenge for mortgage managers, there is significant opportunity for those groups that embrace and deliver the mortgage manager service offering.
“Mortgage lending is not just about offering the cheapest rate; it’s about matching the right products to the needs of the market and delivering the appropriate service – and mortgage managers are in the driving seat to provide this,” he said.
Mr Halliwell’s comments were made at a recent National Mortgage Managers Forum held in Sydney.
Also present at the forum, Resi chief executive officer Lisa Montgomery said the current competitive mortgage market provided mortgage managers the opening to connect with customers, generate business and forge lasting relationships built on a winning service proposition.
“The non-bank sector can provide a unique service, matching the right products to the needs of the market at any given time. We can have a real impact on the market when we show people we can save them money and time on their loan,” Ms Montgomery said.
Australian First Mortgage’s managing director Tanya White said it was up to mortgage managers and originators to communicate their strong service offering.
“There are always opportunities in this space but it’s how we market them; how we position our businesses and how we attract consumers to us,” she said.
