Yesterday, RAMS announced it will extend its special Disaster Relief package to help affected customers.
RAMS chief executive Melos Sulicich said customers who may need financial assistance are encouraged to call RAMS to discuss how the lender may be able to assist.
"We understand how these disaster situations can affect our customers' financial circumstances and at times like these, people do not need the additional burden of worries over their financial commitments,” he said.
Disaster relief benefits are now available to RAMS customers who have been affected by the severe weather in NSW and Queensland.
Affected RAMS home loan customers can ask to defer their repayments for up to three months or increase the term of the loan.
“We also want to reassure our customers who have RAMS home and contents insurance that they are fully covered for both flash and riverine flooding.
“To lodge a claim, affected policyholders should simply give us a call so that we can help with temporary accommodation and emergency funds," he said.
Loan Market corporate spokesperson Paul Smith said it was good to see lenders and banks moving quickly to offer support with services such as fast-tracked claims, changes to loan repayments and waving certain charges or fees.
“This is obviously a very difficult time for many Queenslanders, with the 2011 floods being such a fresh memory. Many home owners are going to have priorities much more important than their finances at this moment, but anyone that needs assistance from their bank can expect heightened care, attention and service in this difficult time," he said.
