Professionals Global Finance has announced the appointment of Andrew Gooding as its new chief executive following the group's official launch in January.

Mr Gooding has 15 years’ experience in the financial services sector working with brokers, lenders and real estate agents.

He previously held senior roles at brokerage Mortgage Fair and diversified financial services firm Choice Capital.

Professionals Global Finance is part of a 300-office real estate group, and said earlier this month that it employed 10 brokers, all of whom are based in Western Australia.

According to the group’s customer research survey, 55 per cent of its real estate clients would consider arranging finance through a broker in which Professionals held equity.

Mr Gooding said the company’s goal is to become one of Australia’s top mortgage brokerages within the next five years.

“A strong pipeline of opportunities from within the group means my focus will be on building great relationships with our member offices and finding the best possible talent to deliver on our promise,” he said.

Mr Gooding insisted that the brokerage will not be relying solely on its real estate counterpart to generate referrals.

“We’re going to develop innovative mechanisms which will allow us to generate leads reactively and proactively,” he told The Adviser.

“The real estate staff are employed to sell property, and we don’t want to distract them from that task. We want to put in place mechanisms and processes that make it easy for them to [cater] to their own service offering while generating activity into the finance part of the business.”

Mr Gooding said there is no sharing of clients’ personal information between the group’s broking and real estate arms unless the client has given consent.

“We’ll never be in a position where we’ll be letting a Professionals agent know what our clients’ spending power is,” he said.

“We want to protect the integrity of our brand as well as the best interests of our clients. Without clients, there’s no business, so if we don’t do that right, the conflict of interest will start to creep in and our business will fail.

“Beyond that, we believe that it’s in the purchaser’s best interests that we’ve got a solid connection with the real estate side of the business so we can help them find property.”

Professionals Global Finance also announced that it had added real estate veteran Terry Hansen to its board.

Mr Hansen has been with Professionals for 28 years and is principal of three Sydney offices.
