Mia Freedman, co-founder of the Mamamia Women’s Network, shared her secrets to success as one of the keynote speakers, and said that in her many years of experience giving talks across Australia, there were two key things that women responded to.
“The first is the negative effect of the way women compare themselves constantly to others. Notably, we compare our behind-the-scenes to other people’s highlight reels, which is never going to end well,” she said.
“The other is about knowing when to ‘lean in’ and when to ‘lean back’. That’s a really important conversation we need to keep having.”
Matina Jewell was one of the other key speakers at the Perth event. Ms Jewell revealed to attendees some of her unique experiences during her 15-year military career, which included tracking down warlords, working with US Navy seals, and successfully leading a peacekeeping mission in Lebanon.
Rob Ryan, head of FAST’s New South Wales and ACT operations, said the events reinforced the aggregator’s commitment to empowering females in the broking industry.
“We are proud to be the only aggregator with a dedicated professional development program for women,” he said.
“Offering both a flexible work-life balance and an opportunity for entrepreneurship, mortgage broking represents a great career path for women.
“We’re dedicated to helping women thrive in this exciting, ever-evolving industry.”
