The last 12 months have been challenging for the big banks, with the non-majors and non-banks seeing more business as credit policy tightens up and more borrowers look outside of the majors to fulfil their lending needs.

But there has also been a raft of changes in the non-major bank space in the past year, from rate hikes and pulling back on certain types of lending to changes to broker remuneration and changing of the guard, and the second-tier lenders look quite different to how they did a year ago.
Given the current landscape, we’re keen to understand how the non-majors have been working with the third-party channel, the areas in which they’ve been excelling at and the areas in which they could improve.
In last year’s survey, brokers said that the non-majors had better turnaround times than the major banks as well as better credit assessment staff and BDM support, but that turnaround times could still be improved.
