The former head of broker distribution at Heritage Bank has opened a new business coaching and consultancy practice for the mortgage and finance industry.

Michael Trencher, who left his role as head of broker distribution at Heritage Bank in August of this year to set up his own business, has announced that Impact Consulting is now open for business.

The coaching and consultancy practice specialises in advising mortgage brokers on their business strategy, from business direction to sales and marketing, customer relationships, people leadership and financial health.

Speaking of the decision to launch Impact Consulting, the industry veteran and former broker said: “I have always wanted to start a business which could give as much value back to an industry which has always supported me and which I am passionate about. This, combined with my passion for coaching, was the perfect fit.”

Mr Trencher added that he believed there has “never been a better time to assist businesses grow and thrive” given that the sector has been through “an unprecedented level of change and uncertainty”.

He continued: “Despite all the negative talk we have heard from so many quarters, I believe that the mortgage broking industry is as strong as it has ever been, and it will continue to grow as we move forward.

“You only have to look at customer sentiment and customer preference for brokers to see how viable this industry is.”

Mr Trencher concluded: “At the end of the day, mortgage brokers have so many day-to-day challenges running their businesses, it is very difficult for them to concentrate and focus on their overall business plans and goals.

“Having a business coach to assist with this is a proven strategy to overcoming these challenges, especially in today’s market.”

Mr Trencher has more than 20 years of experience in the finance sector. Previously the head of broker distribution at Australia’s largest mutual bank, he has also been national manager partnerships of the NAB Broker business and has held senior roles at ANZ and Mortgage Choice. He also formerly operated his own broker franchise business.
