Under the two-year deal, RedZed will be the principal partner for the Hobart-based team, as well as the official partner of its Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) side.
As part of this deal, the RedZed logo is expected to be featured on both the front and back of the Hurricanes’ playing kit, training and travel kits, as well as across in-stadium signage.
Following the announcement, Hobart Hurricanes general manager Scott Barnes said that the club and RedZed share mutual priorities.
“Both RedZed and Hurricanes hold very similar values that link to our strong commitment to community, members and fans alike, in that we both back people who back themselves,” Mr Barnes said.
RedZed managing director Evan Dwyer added: “We have always been passionate supporters of Tasmania’s self-employed community. Fifteen years ago, some of our very first business partners and borrowers were and are still based a stone’s throw from beautiful Bellerive Oval. This is an opportunity for us to support them and their team, Tasmania’s team the mighty ‘Canes’.”
Mr Dwyer added that RedZed’s customers are self-employed and that RedZed itself is “passionate about their success”, noting that he believes the lender’s partnered teams – Hobart Hurricanes and the National Rugby League’s Melbourne Storm – are “both great organisations and they represent diversity of people and professions that are self-employed”.
Mr Dwyer later added: “The Hurricanes are a team that we have admired for many years. They represent Tasmania with a competitiveness that we just love. The Hurricanes always punch above their weight and relish the opportunity to show up teams that underestimate them.
“Having made the BBL final twice in the competition’s short history is testament to this. This is a spirit we share, and we have always been attracted to organisations that like us, have to fight against the odds to achieve their success.”
Last month, RedZed published an inaugural report that included the insights held by 501 self-employed, micro and small-business owners from across the country.
According to the survey, 84 per cent of SMEs believed it would be difficult to secure a bank loan.
In October, the lender confirmed it had joined the lender panel of Australian Finance Group (AFG).
