Brokers dig deep for charity

One of Australia’s brokerages has raised $50,000 to help build a local orphanage in Fiji.

As part of Loan Market’s first international conference, 250 brokers, staff members and lender representatives visited a local orphanage.

Loan Market director Mark De Martino said the idea was then put forward by a staff member to try and raise enough funds at the annual awards gala dinner to help build a new facility.

“After visiting the orphanage, it was pretty clear that we could do so much to help them. We found out it would cost about $40,000 to build them a new facility and we decided to try and raise those funds that night at our annual awards dinner. It was such an amazing feeling to see our brokers so passionate about giving back,” he said.

In addition to the gala dinner and orphanage visit, conference attendees were given a sneak peak at Loan Market’s new marketing campaign, called second favourite.

Moreover, brokers were given five simple marketing steps by Loan Market’s chief marketing officer Karen Hall to help them start growing their business today.

At the annual awards function, Melbourne-based broker Josh Bartlett took out the number one broker in Australia award and Bruce Patten from New Zealand took out the international broker of the year title for the group.
