Sydney firm 1st Street Home Loans has forecast it will make up to $90,000 of charitable donations this financial year.

Director Jeremy Fisher said the firm would donate $80,000 to $90,000 in 2013/2014 after donating $75,000 in 2012/2013 and a total of $325,000 over the past decade.

Mr Fisher told The Adviser the firm mainly sponsors organisations linked to youth and sport, including a local primary school, a local football club and a local tennis club.

The most recent sponsorship was in January this year when 1st Street backed Neuroblastoma Australia, a charity researching a cancer that is a leading cause of death in young children.

Mr Fisher said the firm’s 11 staff would also participate in the Run2Cure Neuroblastoma event in June.

“Often we promote our involvement in a cause to increase public awareness and further drive support,” he said.

“With the 5km fun run for neuroblastoma, we told clients and associates about our involvement and we have since had quite a few donations to our team as well as people wanting to join us in the run.”
