Brian Taylor, who runs his two businesses from the Western Australian town of Geraldton, told The Adviser that the website regularly receives more than 70,000 page views per month.
He visits the vendors to photograph their properties and put up the ‘for sale’ signs. He said this generates leads from sellers who are looking to finance their next purchase – and he also gets leads from would-be buyers because his contact details are included in each online listing.
Mr Taylor said this was a high-quality lead generation service that had allowed him to boost his volumes by 50 per cent since he acquired the website in 2011, seven years after opening his brokerage.
He wants to award GoPrivate franchises to other brokers so he no longer has to travel to vendors around Western Australia.
Mr Taylor's aim is to set up three or four franchises in Perth, one in Rockingham or Mandurah, one in Bunbury or Busselton and possibly one in northern WA, in Port Hedland or Broome.
“I believe this is something that should be developed throughout Australia, although I want to get WA firmly established first,” he said.
Franchisees would manage vendors in their local areas and have their contact details included in their vendors’ online listings.
Mr Taylor said franchisees would pay an up-front establishment fee and a percentage of each transaction.
