Gold Coast branch principal Fabian Restaino said many consumers avoid brokers because they feel too intimidated to discuss their finances.
“I’ve got a wife and two kids and I know what it’s like to go out and speak with someone and it’s not something you would generally go out of your way to do because you feel embarrassed,” he told The Adviser.
“I feel this idea will break down that barrier for people to casually come in and ask on-the-spot questions and ideally proceed from there to future consultations.”
Mr Restaino said he would hold a sausage sizzle on the day to help generate a welcoming atmosphere.
“I think it’s going to be a great day of generating new leads as well as seeing existing clients who didn’t ask enough questions the first time they came in,” he said.
Sydney branch principal Effie Nicol said Ask My Advice Day would help correct the widespread misconception that people needed to pay to see a broker.
She also said it would create a point of difference for Yellow Brick Road by portraying the group as a friendly and approachable business.
Mr Restaino and Ms Nicol both told The Adviser they already had appointments booked for Ask My Advice Day.
