A former mortgage broker who has already admitted stealing $170,000 could face another 78 charges involving “millions” of dollars.

Malcolm Royce Jones, 52, of Woodville North, appeared in Adelaide’s District Court yesterday, according to The Australian.

“He has previously pleaded guilty to one aggravated count of dishonestly dealing with a document and one count of attempted deception,” the newspaper reported.

“The court has previously heard Jones’ offences, committed in September 2012, netted him $170,000.”

Prosecutor Peter Longson told Judge Jack Costello that more charges would be filed against Mr Jones by the end of the month, according to The Australian.

“As Your Honour is aware, Jones has been assisting the police in going through various transactions and further criminal conduct has been identified,” Mr Longson said.

“That process has been significant but has now come to a halt, and there are potentially 78 further counts, (totally) quite a number of millions.”

Mr Jones was remanded on continuing bail until next month.
