A former NSW insurance broker has been put on a five year good behaviour bond in relation to charges brought by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) yesterday.

Anastasia Hronopoulos, formerly of Zuellig Insurance Brokers and OAMPS Insurance Brokers, pleaded guilty to two counts of using a false instrument and eight counts of dishonest conduct.

Ms Hronopoulos was also ordered to pay $2,000.

According to an investigation by ASIC, Ms Hronopoulos created false insurance policies that deceived her clients into believing they held certain insurance coverage when, in fact, they did not.

The court found that during 2002-2005, Ms Hronopoulos used the money given to her by her clients for the purpose of buying insurance policies, to pay the claims and debts of other clients.

Ms Hronopoulos was banned from providing financial services in 2008.
