The process to find the best state-based brokerages is set to be even trickier with over 650 nominations to 2015's Better Business Awards.

Nominations closed on Friday and were up considerably on 2014’s inaugural awards. This is the only state-based industry awards open to any broker, brokerage, their office support staff, plus the lenders and aggregators that support them.
Entrants now have until November 7 to complete a written submission which will be sent to an expert panel for judging. The finalists will then be announced on December 5 and the winners announced in their respective state capitals at a gala award ceremony through February and March 2015.
The Adviser’s editor, John Bastick, said he was delighted by the level of interest in the awards, considering it was only the second year that they’d been run.
“It’s not unfair to suggest the series of Better Business Awards in 2014 were arguably the best industry events of 2014,” Mr Bastick said.
“And if the number and quality of nominees we have received are any indication then we’re in for very exciting and competitive awards in 2015.
“What makes the awards unique is that they acknowledge brokers and brokerages at the state level. Too often, the big players, with the big staff get all the accolades, but the Better Business Awards quite rightly acknowledges brokerages who may not have written massive volumes but are innovative, have embraced change, embraced new technologies and new thinking,” he said.
Once finalists have been selected, the winners will be announced at the state awards dinners in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth between February 19 and March 19.
