A Perth mortgage broker has died in tragic circumstances during a cruise.

The body of Loan Market broker Damien Mills was found floating about five kilometres off a North Fremantle beach on Saturday, according to ABC.

Western Australia Police told The Adviser: "This investigation is still ongoing and a report will be prepared for the Coroner. There is no evidence of criminality in this matter."

A Loan Market spokesperson told The Adviser that everyone at the franchise was shocked and saddened by the news.

Chairman Sam White has flown to Perth to show his support for Mr Mills' family and the other local Loan Market brokers, according to the spokesperson.

Mr Mills disappeared last Friday while on a trip to Rottnest Island with 35 brokers, according to ABC.

"However, when the boat run by Swan River Boat Charters arrived back in Fremantle about 4pm that day, no one noticed he was missing," it reported.

It appears the accident occurred some time in the two hours before the boat returned to shore, because Mr Mills reportedly responded to a text message from his son at 1.52pm.

Mr Mills is survived by his wife, Nicole, and three children, according to ABC.
