The FBAA has hailed its latest broker recruitment drive a huge success after identifying hundreds of potential new young brokers.

The industry body has teamed up with student organisation Student Edge to promote the industry to those who, until now, have never considered finance broking as an option.

FBAA chief executive Peter White said hundreds of student members have joined the FBAA as a result.

Mr White said that while many will not end up pursuing the path as a career, he is confident that the initiatives will assist “hundreds of young people to become finance brokers”.

“This is not even about the FBAA. It's about the future of the industry, and the entire industry will benefit.”

Mr White said the association is conscious of the industry’s ageing workforce, and has been working proactively for the past few years to attract more young brokers.

“It's very exciting to start to see the results of our efforts and to be fuelling the next generation of finance brokers in Australia,” he said.

Mr White told The Adviser in November that the FBAA would offer scholarships to students worth $16,900 each.

The scholarship winners will receive a two-year education program that includes study at Australis College as well as professional mentoring.

The scholarships are open to all high school and university students. Applications close on 27 March, with the recipients to be announced on 4 May.
