Broker assists alleged identity theft

Mick Gatto associate and fight promoter, Tarik Solak, is currently in a stoush with the NSW state government over claims a robber used his property title to take out a $560,000 loan against his house.

Mr Solak told the Herald Sun that he was overseas when a fraudster stole his property title and identity documents and used them to get a loan against his house through NSW mortgage broker Gamal Kheir.

According to Mr Solak, a company called Willow Corp Pty Ltd allegedly received most of the $560,000 loan.

Mr Solak said he chased one of the company’s directors for the money to no avail.

But authorities are questioning whether Mr Solak’s story is true and dispute the fact that the loan was fraudulently obtained from the bank by “persons unknown to Mr Solak.”

The matter is currently before police who are trying to untangle the mysterious burglary.

While Mr Solak refused to comment on the burglary or the subsequent fallout because of legal proceedings, he said the issue would be “back in the Supreme Court very soon.”
