Eric Cui of Alliance Mortgage Solutions in Sydney was the big winner last year. His 381 deals totalling $191 million earned the broker – who had been operating for just 3.5 years at the time of his win – the title of Young Broker of the Year for 2014.
According to The Adviser editor James Mitchell, the Young Broker of the Year rankings offer significant marketing value to those brokers who make the list.
“There are some young brokers out there who are streets ahead of their peers and we want to recognise their achievement and highlight the business attitudes and practices that define them,” Mr Mitchell said.
"People sometimes wonder where the next wave of talent is coming from – well, this year's list of Australia's top 30 young brokers will answer that question," Mr Mitchell said.
"Veteran brokers have made, and continue to make, an incredible contribution to the industry. But every industry needs a regular infusion of young blood to provide fresh energy and ideas."
Mr Mitchell encouraged all young brokers to submit their entry to be in the running for this year’s list. After another year of strong house price growth, he anticipates the combined loan amount to exceed $2 billion.
"Our top 30 brokers wrote a combined $1.9 billion of residential loans in 2013/2014, which was a massive 26.6 per cent increase on the previous financial year," he said.
"With interest rates at historic lows, and with brokers now writing more than 50 per cent of mortgages, it's fair to say there has never been a better time to be a broker."
As in years past, this year’s rankings will uncover the final 30 based on a broker's residential volumes, actual home loans written and 'other volumes' such as commercial, vehicle and equipment finance, and insurance.
