Biggest broker blunders exposed

A digital marketing expert has revealed the biggest mistakes brokers make when building their online presence.

Leading communications and marketing professional Stu Atkins, founder of stuatkins.com, says brokers often don’t dedicate enough time to digital marketing, and as a result are not reaping the rewards of the “quick wins”.

“I think the main challenge brokers are having is time – the ability to conduct their core business but also have time to build a presence and to continue to be fluent, I suppose, with information and consistent with information,” Mr Atkins told The Adviser.

“I think a lot of brokers don’t necessarily [realise] the importance of keeping an up-to-date, cutting edge, visible profile and the relationship that then translates into new business.

“The reality is you need to be always staying ahead of your competition and making sure that your information is consistent and up-to-date. You always need to focus on what your prospective customers want and are you giving them the information that’s going to help them choose you over a competitor?”

Mr Atkins will be showing brokers how to implement digital marketing strategies and increase their online presence at The Adviser’s Digital Marketing Boot Camp.

“My key priority is to show the audience, whether they’re highly experienced or a novice when it comes to digital promotion, that there are five or six things that they can walk away with immediately to help improve their brand,” he said.

“It doesn’t take a lot of time and it doesn’t cost any or a lot of money, depending on the length that they want to be involved.

“I want to show them it doesn’t take a lot of time or a lot of investment to get some really quick wins to enhance their status and help win new business, which for a broker is number one.”

The Adviser’s Digital Marketing Boot Camp will be held in Melbourne on 4 May, Brisbane on 6 May and Sydney on 11 May.
