More than 700 of the industry’s best operators gathered for the Australian Broking Awards on Friday, with the hotly contested top gong going to a broker with a career spanning 20 years in agribusiness and rural property finance.
Robinson Sewell Partners’ Brad Sewell was the big winner at The Adviser’s 2016 Australian Broking Awards.

Mr Sewell won the coveted Broker of the Year award as well as the Customer Service of the Year award for individuals. In addition, Robinson Sewell Partners picked up the Regional Office of the Year gong – underscoring the sometimes-unsung value regional brokers and brokerages truly bring to the mortgage industry.
Another 23 awards were handed out at the five-star luncheon, which attracted more than 700 of the industry’s brightest mortgage professionals, at Sydney’s The Star.
The Australian Lending & Investment Centre broker, Mark Davis, won the Residential Broker of the Year gong while Iconic Home Loans’ Kaitlin Kenney was named Newcomer of the Year.
The same Iconic Home Loans won the award for Major Brokerage of the Year in the non-franchised category.
Aussie Home Loans took out the Major Brokerage of the Year – Franchise award for the second year running, while Aussie Parramatta was named Office of the Year – Franchise.
Connective won the Aggregator of the Year award – also for the second consecutive year – while Specialist Finance Group picked up 2016’s Boutique Aggregator of the Year award.
As it did in 2015, this year AFG took home the gongs for both Broker Marketing Platform of the Year and Technology Platform of the Year.
True to form, multiple-award winning brokerage Home Loan Experts was back on the podium in 2016, this time winning the awards for both Social and Community Service Program of the Year and Customer Service of the Year (Office).
New Office of the Year in 2016 went to Time Home Loans, while Positive Lending Solutions secured the gong for Consumer Marketing of the Year and PLAN Australia took home the award for Training and Education Program of the Year.
Astute Financial Management won Diversification Program of the Year and Loan Market was named Innovator of the Year.
Commonwealth Bank once again served as the principal partner to The Adviser in hosting this sixth annual Australian Broking Awards.
