Speaking to The Adviser, Mr Patty said that even with a mentor and a Certificate 4 under his belt, his transition into broking was a challenging journey.
“When I started it was tough, there was still so much to learn, so the course is designed to make that transition easier,” he explained.
“It [gets] them up to speed on how to assess loans and go through the whole mortgage process, things to look out for, how to fill out forms, everything like that,” Mr Patty elaborated.
New brokers are also provided with best practice templates that Mr Patty has found effective in his own business, in addition to a course textbook and a comprehensive, practically-worded glossary of industry terminology.
“It’s packaging up the mentorship concept that is used quite broadly in the industry, and to supplement that,” Mr Patty highlighted.
Mr Patty pointed out that the course is also beneficial to brokerages as it provides new brokers with dedicated, external training that doesn’t eat into the business’ time.
“It means that you’re not second-guessing yourself and having to lean on other broking professionals where their time is quite valuable,” Mr Patty said.
Graduates of the program are also offered a 90-day guarantee period whereby they can call Spark Professional with further questions and return for additional training if needed.
The course is available to those new to industry as well as experienced brokers who are looking to support them.
The three-day program will next take place on the 2nd, 5th and 9th of September.
