The CBA subsidiary has announced on 6 November the appointment of a new general manager of third-party distribution.

Ian Rakhit, who has been in the role of NSW state manager stores and lending for the last two years, will now oversee both retail and business broker teams. He said he was delighted to return to the broker team.

“I’m excited to return to Bankwest’s broker team and I’m really looking forward to exploring how we can better meet the needs of our broker network over the next few years,” Mr Rakhit said.

“Under the guidance of Stewart Saunders, Bankwest has introduced some important improvements aimed at supporting its highly valued broker network, including the Home Loan Application Tracker, the Broker Portal and the Broker Pricing Tool.

“And we’re continually evolving and improving our digital offering to our brokers by embracing emerging technologies that brokers are telling us they value.”

Mr Rakhit has over a decade of experience with Bankwest, half of which was spent as general manager of broker and specialist sales.

Stewart Saunders, who has led the broker team for the last two and a half years, becomes Bankwest’s new general manager for strategy, risk and governance, focusing on growing the business in a risk-aware and considered way while aligning with regulatory and compliance requirements.

Commenting on the changes, Mr Saunders said: “It’s been a privilege to lead our dedicated Bankwest broker team and I’m so proud of everything we have achieved together and the significant steps we’ve taken to support our broker network.”

Brokers ranked Bankwest as the top lender in the 2017 Momentum Intelligence Third-Party Lending Report: Non-Majors Lenders.
