Mr Doobov wrote 593 mortgages over the 12 months to 30 June 2017, totalling $360 million. He wrote $35 million in other business and $317 million in total insurances over the year.
Choice Aggregation Services CEO Stephen Moore told The Adviser that Mr Doobov’s success is the result of a “unique” combination of skills.
“Justin is an extraordinary individual. I think it would be difficult to come across anyone more motivated,” Mr Moore said.
“He has that unique combination of absolute customer focus and a strong process focus, which are two traits that you don’t often see together. Generally, you’re either a people person or a process person.
“Justin manages to have the combination. I believe that is one of the reasons he has been so successful.”
Loan Market broker Josh Bartlett came in at second place in this year’s ranking with $185 million in residential volumes. The Melbourne-based mortgage professional has only been broking for six years and recently told The Adviser that support staff are critical to his success.
“Really, it’s a team effort. There’s no way an individual, one person, can do what we do.
“You go through a lot of strain over those first two or three years when you’re a volume broker. It can be extremely painful day in, day out, and you can go through a lot of people, a lot of staff over a period of time,” Mr Bartlett said.
“You’re just trying to find the right people that fit, that gel, that are prepared to jump in and be part of the team.”
Fellow Loan Market broker Hannah Nguyen was the highest ranked female broke this year with $75 million in residential volumes.
