The top brokers, brokerages, lender BDMs and loan administrators in Queensland have been honoured at The Adviser’s Better Business Awards in Brisbane.
The awards, which honour the state’s best brokers, aggregator BDMs, lender BDMs, loan administrators and those running community engagement programs, were held last night (15 February) at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Following the Better Business Summit 2018, hosted in partnership with principal partner NAB, the awards saw both well-established and new brokers recognised for their hard work and dedication to delivering good consumer outcomes.
Mark Williams from The Brokerage took home the awards for Broker of the Year and Best Newcomer.
The judges particularly commended Mr Williams for his extensive knowledge of complex residential property scenarios which enabled him to support his high-net-worth clients with complex property transactions.
The broker’s after-sales care was also applauded.
Deslie Taylor of Mortgage Choice Ormeau, who was last year crowned Mortgage and Finance Broker of the Year at the inaugural Women in Finance Awards, took home the award for Best Residential Broker.
Ms Taylor’s personalisation of service was noted as a particularly strong point of difference when servicing the needs of her clients.
Best Regional Broker went to Matthew Punter from The Savings Centre (Moffat Beach) while Holly Bertsos of Niche Finance went home with the accolade for Best Customer Service (Individual).
Matthew Carr of MC Mortgage Solutions won Best Finance Broker while Madd Loans’ George Samios — who last year took home the awards of Broker of the Year and Best Residential Broker for Queensland — was recognised as Best Innovator for his part in co-creating Trycall.
Andrea Kerr from Finance Studio was picked as Editor’s Choice.
Ms Kerr was selected as the Editor’s Choice this year after demonstrating true commitment to her clients.
She was congratulated for “providing transparency and clarity of the loan process” and demonstrating true dedication to her work despite having to overcome personal challenges in the last few years.
The Rising Star Award went to Renee Tocco of Loanezi, who was particularly noted for blazing a trail in her first few years of broking and for her dedication to supporting charity B1G1 by providing donations for every corporate loan the brokerage settles.
BDMs from AFG, Advantedge Financial Services and Prospa were also honoured.

Better Business Summit 2018
Now in its fifth consecutive year, the Better Business Awards form part of the award-winning Better Business Summit.
The Better Business Summit first launched in 2013 as a state-based event to provide brokers with straight-talking, practical advice to help them grow and improve their businesses.
It was the first state-based awards program to recognise and celebrate the best in the industry in their local markets.
The Better Business Summit has won multiple awards and has grown exponentially over the years to become the industry’s leading event, and now welcomes more than 4,500 attendees every year.
