Most brokers do not think Australia will qualify for the second round in the FIFA World Cup, after they were annihilated by Germany earlier this week.

According to The Adviser’s latest weekly straw poll, 77.6 per cent of respondents believe Australia will not qualify for the World Cup, while 17.2 per cent think the Socceroos will make it to the final 16.
Of the 308 respondents, 2.9 per cent believe Australia will make it to the quarter finals and 2.3 per cent think they will make it to the semi finals or better.
Bankwest’s head of broker sales Aaron Milburn was one of the 17.2 per cent of respondents that think Australia will make the second round.
“I think Australia will qualify, however I don’t think they will progress much beyond that,” Mr Milburn told The Adviser.
“My hot tip is for England to take out the title.”
Mortgage Achievers mortgage broker Mario Borg is in the same boat as Mr Milburn – holding out hope that Australia will pull itself together enough to take out Ghana this weekend.
“They’ll win the next one is my tip... They would have got a serious kick up the backside,” Mr Borg told The Adviser.
