Former Westpac broker head joins non-major

A former general manager of third-party distribution at Westpac has joined a Tasmania-based bank as general manager of banking – responsible for both the broker and retail channels.

MyState Limited has announced that Anthony (Tony) MacRae, who is currently the national general manager for Westpac’s retail home ownership and was recently its head of third-party distribution, will join the bank in “early 2019” as general manager of banking.

In his new role, Mr MacRae will lead MyState’s banking divisions, which include the broker channel, retail, call centres, business and agri-business.

Mr MacRae has previously held senior positions with the RAMS, where he was formerly acting CEO, and has held senior roles with PMI and Virgin Money Australia.

In his financial services career, Mr MacRae has been responsible for both retail and broker channels – and has been responsible for the strategic sales leadership of Westpac’s physical and digital salesforce.

MyState managing director and CEO Melos Sulicich commented: “We are delighted to welcome Tony to our executive team. Tony brings with him a wealth of experience in the banking sector and extensive and proven record for strategic execution and transformational growth.”

Mr MacRae holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University.
