Major brokerage appoints new CEO

The former GM of Oxygen Home Loans has been named as the first CEO of major brokerage Home Loan Experts, taking the helm from founder Otto Dargan.

Home Loan Experts, a specialist mortgage brokerage and outsourcing service provider, has announced that it has appointed its first CEO.

Former Oxygen Home Loans general manager Alan Hemmings, who has been working at Home Loan Experts for the past 10 months as broker team manager, will move into the role of CEO from 1 September 2020.

Speaking of the appointment, Mr Dargan said: “This is an exciting time for the Home Loan Experts business and the next evolution.

“We have spent the last two years positioning the business for continued growth and strengthening the management team [and] this announcement continues that.”

He continued: “I am not leaving the company, rather I will focus on a few key aspects of the business and allow Alan to run Homeloanexperts.com.au day to day.”

Speaking of his new role, Mr Hemmings said: “My time with Home Loan Experts has been really enjoyable, watching the brokers continue their growth and see some amazing results over the last financial year has been great. I look forward to working with Otto and the rest of the management team to continue growing the business.”

Looking to the future, the incoming CEO said that he aims to continue growing the mortgage broking division and “making sure [the brokerage] continues to provide the tools for the brokers to improve their productivity”.

Mr Hemmings noted that the Sydney-based brokerage, which has a sizeable offshore team in Nepal, will also seek to grow its outsourcing services and “attract new partners”.

Founded in 2006 by Mr Dargan, Home Loan Experts focuses on specialist borrowers, including non-residents, near prime and freelancers. It currently has a loan book of approximately $2 billion.

It also provides outsourced broker support and credit analyst services to Australian brokers.

The major brokerage recently took the title of Major Brokerage of the Year - Non-franchise at the Australian Broking Awards 2020.
