Aussie bolsters its broker network

The major brokerage has expanded its network of brokers and franchisees in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis.

Aussie Home Loans has announced that it will be welcoming 85 new brokers and franchisees with diverse professional backgrounds, as part of its recruitment program, launched in May.

According to Aussie’s general manager, distribution, Brad Cramb, an increasing number of men and women from across professional services sectors are exploring a career in the broking industry in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.

“We are delighted with the strong interest from skilled professionals wanting to pivot their professional journey and become a mortgage broker with Aussie,” he said.

“The challenges of COVID-19 have impacted several industries. During the lockdowns, many recruits may have had time to reflect on their passion and might be drawn towards a growing and vibrant industry sector, including the strong Aussie brand.

“While the recent escalation in Victoria has seen us take a more measured approach there, nationally there is still strong interest, and we are keen to discuss the opportunities with interested candidates.”

Over 60 per cent of the new recruits are under the age of 40, while 25 per cent per cent are women.

The majority of recruits have have experience in the financial services industry, but according to Aussie, the aspiring brokers also include small-business owners, customer service professionals and people with team leadership experience.

“The key ingredient we are looking for are people skills, as Aussie will support successful recruits with training, development, mentoring and cash flow in their first six months with us, giving them a kickstart to their new professional journey,” Mr Cramb added.

Upon completion of Aussie’s training program, recruits will be qualified for a Certificate IV in Mortgage Broking and may be on their way to completing a full Diploma in Mortgage Broking over a 12-month period.

Aussie Home Loans plans to recruit 200 new brokers and increase its national franchise footprint to 300 by 2023.
