PEXA names new COO

Property Exchange Australia has revealed a new appointment to its corporate team, “amid the accelerating adoption of e-conveyancing”.

Simon Smith has joined the team as chief operations officer and brings extensive public sector experience to PEXA, the digital property settlement platform stated.

Mr Smith comes to PEXA from international management consultancy Nous Group, where he reportedly worked extensively with government and university leaders to develop strategy, deliver transformation and strengthen government practices.

Prior to that, he served 24 years with the NSW government in roles that included secretary of the department of industry under then premier Mike Baird; CEO of the department of finance, services and innovation; and deputy director general of the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

Commenting on his new role, Mr Smith is “delighted to be joining PEXA at a time when the ability to settle property transactions efficiently, reliably and securely has never been more important”.

Calling the platform a “global pioneer in digital property settlements”, the new COO said he is excited to be able to play a role in the next stage of its development.

According to PEXA’s CEO, Glenn King, Mr Smith is “a high-quality addition to the executive team” and will help the digital property settlement platform drive growth and innovation amid the accelerating adoption of e-conveyancing.

“Simon has led and implemented many significant policy and regulatory reforms across multiple sectors,” the CEO stated.

“He is a highly respected leader and brings deep experience in public policy, regulatory reform and government decision-making to PEXA.”
