Adelaide Bank’s former head of broker joins NAB

NAB has welcomed the former head of broker distribution at Adelaide Bank to its home ownership team to help drive performance across mortgage distribution.

Amanda James has started a new position at National Australia Bank (NAB) following nearly 20 years with Bendigo and Adelaide Bank.

Ms James was previously head of broker distribution at Adelaide Bank (2018-2021) before moving into a new role as head of productivity and performance, local banking, in February of this year.

She has now joined NAB’s home ownership leadership team in the role of executive, distribution performance.

In this position, she will have accountability for driving performance across all of NAB’s distribution channels – both proprietary and broker – through “insight-driven enablement and capability uplift”.

Ms James will report to NAB executive, home ownership, Andy Kerr.

Commenting on the new appointment, Mr Kerr told The Adviser: “I’m delighted to further strengthen the leadership talent in home ownership at NAB, and Amanda’s experience in broker distribution and her recent roles in proprietary home lending make her an invaluable asset to the business.

“Amanda will help NAB’s home ownership team improve capability and ensure we are a bank that is focused on serving customers well, providing a consistent experience regardless of how they choose to come to us to buy their home,” he added.

Writing on LinkedIn last week, Ms James marked the end of her 19-year career with Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, saying she would be “forever grateful for the opportunities and friendships” formed during her time there and thanked everyone who had given her “so much support, guidance and encouragement along the way”.

She added that she was “looking forward to starting a very exciting new chapter” (at NAB).

She told The Adviser: There has never been a better time to join the team at NAB. There is strong momentum in home lending and we are genuinely focused on providing an even better experience for our brokers and customers which is great to be a part of.

“I hope the experience I bring in home lending performance will help further support our brokers and customers.

“I also feel really fortunate that I have been able to take on this opportunity whilst remaining in my home town of Adelaide, something that may not have been considered pre-COVID. I believe this will be a good example how for many roles we can embrace a flexible and hybrid approach over the longer term,” she said.

Ms James is NAB’s latest new appointment, after it welcomed Phil Waugh to the role of executive, broker distribution, in June of this year.

Mr Waugh had previously been the head of private wealth, north at Westpac and also has experience leading the auto finance division at St.George and head of asset finance at CBA.

He took over the role of executive, broker distribution, from Nicole Triandos, who had been in the role in an acting capacity since the departure of Steve Kane, who left the bank in December (and has since joined Loan Market).
