The cream of the crop in the Western Australian broking industry has been recognised at the 2022 Better Business Awards in Perth.
The Better Business Awards – which is run in partnership with principal partner NAB – was held at Crown Towers Perth on Thursday evening (19 May) and followed the successful Better Business Summit 2022.

More than 450 leading members of the broking sector attended this year’s awards ceremony to cheer on the 90 brokers, business development managers (BDM), loan administrators, and other finalists who vied for 18 individual and group awards, including the coveted Broker of the Year award.
The awards ceremony acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the broking sector in supporting clients during a significantly busy and challenging period.
Australian comedian, radio and television presenter, and emcee Merrick Watts provided laughter and entertainment throughout the evening.
This year, Core Finance Co managing director Adam Burstein emerged victorious as the overall Broker of the Year in Western Australia, as well as Best Residential Broker, and was applauded for his strong results.
Pascoe Partners Finance finance broker Casey Stein received the Best Finance Broker award for achieving solid growth as an agribusiness specialist serving complex client needs.
Regional brokers were also recognised for their dedicated service to their segment of the market, with Towner Finance (Halls Head) founder Michelle Towner named Best Regional Broker.
Judges were impressed with The Loan Company mortgage broker (Perth) Nathan Bennett’s strong business model and declared that he has a bright future ahead of him, naming him Best Newcomer in Western Australia this year.
Complete Mortgage Solutions’ director and finance consultant Steve Cramphorn won the Best Customer Service (Individual) award for providing clients access to knowledge and expertise through clear communication and ongoing support, which resulted in business growth.
Meanwhile, Harken Finance financial services industry director Harry Bozin was named Thought Leader of the Year for his exemplary body of work and ongoing commitment to the industry.
For her tireless efforts in supporting her finance team, Momentum Wealth finance client liaison officer Vima Moorghen picked up the Best Loan Administrator trophy and was commended for her initiatives, particularly for her expertise with the company’s CRM.
BDMs were also acknowledged for their ongoing support of and services to brokers, with Loan Market state relationship manager Western Australia Shelley Tetlaw taking home the Best Aggregator BDM award for demonstrating business and individual improvement.
Westpac BDM Blake Hauber was given the Best Lender BDM (Bank) trophy while Pepper Money senior BDM Stephen Davis was named Best Lender BDM (Non-Bank).
This year’s Editor’s Choice award went to Sarcha Sagisaka, founder and mortgage and finance broker at Success Finance Solutions, with editor Annie Kane championing her for prioritising customer service and making her clients feel safe in the knowledge that she has their back, as well as her commitment to developing networks and skills.
Group awards
Several groups in Western Australia were also acknowledged for their stellar business results and team effort this year.
After winning an individual award, Ms Towner’s brokerage Towner Finance picked up the Best Independent Office (five brokers or less) award, while The Loan Company (headed by general manager Simon Kahl) was awarded Best Independent Office (more than five brokers).
Mortgage Choice Perth (led by director Richard Crommelin) was named Best Branded Office for demonstrating an understanding that the customer is the foundation for growth.
The Best Customer Service (Office) trophy went to Resolve Finance (helmed by managing director Don Crellin) for its strong results and initiatives.
Director and finance broker Gareth Ward’s Reward Financial Services Australia was crowned Best New Office this year, while Loan Market (Geraldton) – which is steered by director and finance broker Jasmine Bunter – was named Best Regional Office.

Better Business Summit and Awards reach pointy end
After touring four states over two months, the 2022 Better Business Summit and Awards will make its grand finale in Melbourne in June.
The summit – which is themed “Digital Broker” – is packed with TED Talk-style sessions by a variety of speakers who will equip the Victorian broking industry with the knowledge around the latest technological trends, and tools to harness this technology, increase efficiencies, and succeed in their businesses.
