For the past decade, the Better Business Awards has showcased the depth of talent in the mortgage and finance industry, while affirming the sector’s essential role in supporting the home ownership and business growth needs of Australian borrowers.
The 2024 awards – open to all businesses operating in Australia supporting the broking industry – champion those who have delivered unparalleled customer service while managing high volumes.
The Adviser received almost 1,000 submissions, out of which a total of 675 finalists have been chosen to battle it out for the 12 individual and eight group submissions-based categories in NSW/ACT, Queensland, South Australia/Northern Territory, Victoria/Tasmania, and Western Australia.
Individual finalists include residential and finance brokers, aggregator and lender business development managers (BDMs), loan administrators, mentors, and new brokers who have made their mark in their industry.
The highest-scoring individual winner in each state will take home the coveted Broker of the Year award trophy.
Finalists in the group categories include franchise and non-franchise offices, finance brokerages, new offices, and regional offices.

Methodology for selecting the winners
With a judging panel that includes senior finance leaders, business executives, entrepreneurs, and innovators, a Better Business Award is peer-reviewed recognition of the capabilities of individuals and brokerages.
The judges score each part of the submission across the category’s criteria, giving an aggregated score. A number of judges will individually assess each submission for each category, offering a blended score and assessment.
The combined judging scores for each submission are tabulated, with the highest-scoring submission deemed the winner.
The winners will be announced at the Better Business Awards 2024 ceremonies in Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, and Melbourne.
Announcing the winners, the managing editor of The Adviser, Annie Kane, commented: “The broking industry has had an incredibly busy year this year. Whether it was helping borrowers refinance amid a tighter economic environment, ensuring those facing fixed rate expiries understand what their new repayments are following multiple rate hikes, or enabling first home buyers to take advantage of a growing number of government-backed loan guarantees, it’s clear that borrowers have been better off because of the broker channel.
“The finalists of this year’s awards are to be commended for their dedication to ensuring their existing clients are prepared and well-positioned to service their loans and for their contribution to keeping arrears rates low.
“Many congratulations also go to all those working behind the scenes to support the broker channel – the lenders, aggregators, loan processors, and service providers – who have been equally dedicated to delivering good customer outcomes.
“We look forward to crowning the winners at the Better Business Awards 2024 – showcasing the leaders of industry while creating a benchmark for excellence that others can aspire to.”
