New training launched for commercial brokers

by Ben Squires7 minute read

The new education program provides practical, experience-driven training for brokers interested in commercial finance.

Finance specialists and former Women’s Commercial Finance Forum directors Ulrika Lobo and Sonja Pfitz have launched a new education program for commercial finance brokers.

The program, Get Commercial With Us, is delivered 100 per cent online and aimed at bridging “the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in commercial finance broking”.

Courses include trade finance and construction finance and will soon also include invoice finance, business term loans, and private lending, among other topics.

Participants are offered a range of training modules, ongoing support, and real-world case studies.

Pfitz, who also runs her own commercial finance and advisory business as the director of Pfitz Financial, said the ultimate aim of the program is to elevate industry standards and make quality commercial finance education accessible to brokers of all levels.

“We meet brokers where they are, professionally and emotionally, because we understand that success in commercial finance is about more than just knowledge – it’s about confidence, support, and practical application,” Pfitz said.

Lobo, the founder of former private lending business Sparrow Loans, said she was looking forward to passing on the benefits of her experience to course participants.

“We’re not just educators– we’re mentors, supporters, and advocates for the industry,” Lobo said.

“Our approach makes complex concepts accessible and practical, providing ongoing support that extends well beyond education.”

“Our vision is to create empowered brokers who can provide better financial guidance, ultimately contributing to a stronger Australian economy,” Pfitz said.

Commercial education in focus

The launch of Get Commercial With Us comes amid a growing focus on commercial finance training.

Earlier this month, the Commercial & Asset Finance Brokers Association (CAFBA) launched a new commercial finance education platform, PACE Premium, to help brokers, lenders, and aggregators enter or upskill in commercial finance.

Available to both CAFBA members and non-members, the PACE Premium platform offers training resources on key commercial finance topics such as cash flow analysis and business lending.

Speaking to The Adviser about the new program last week, David Bushby, CAFBA CEO, said: “CAFBA is passionate about promoting the highest levels of knowledge and professionalism in the industry. It underpins our self-regulatory status and delivers best outcomes for clients and all participants.

“Ensuring financial professionals can access relevant, current, easily accessible and evolving courses that help build their knowledge and understanding, is a key part of that.

“We are always looking for new ways to enhance professionalism in the industry and the development of these courses add significantly to the resources available to support the entire industry’s growth.”
