ASIC has put to rest speculation that brokers will not be able to lodge their licence application forms between Christmas and New Year.

Last week, ASIC informed industry members that it would close down its offices between 25 December and 3 January (inclusive).

Despite widespread concern that brokers would not be able to lodge their licence applications at this time, a statement from ASIC said lodgements would be accepted.

However, the statement also said ASIC’s telephone support for its lodging services would be unavailable.

“Arrangements are in place to recognise receipt of paper lodgements received over the closedown period,” the statement read.

“Documents lodged during the closedown period will only attract a late fee if due before the closedown period.”
